The Big Data & Emerging Technologies Research Group at the Western Norway Research Institute welcomes applications for the following research positions.

The Western Norway Research Institute was established in 1985 and is organized as a research foundation. The institute has about 35 employees with expertise in the fields of society and technology, climate and environment, and tourism. We are a research group within the “Technology and Society” research division at the Western Norway Research Institute.

You will join our research group in solving exciting and challenging research problems with real-world applications that require machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, text mining, sentiment analysis, semantic web technologies. We are well recognised for designing and developing cutting-edge intelligent solutions. Our international, European and national projects' activities demonstrate how ICT enabling technologies can be applied to solve societal and business challenges within emergency management, transport and mobility, healthcare, energy and social cybersecurity.

The institute is situated in Sogndal, which is beautifully located in the Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord. This region is considered to be one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. The region has medium and small industries, a vital business community, an airport, a university campus, cultural activities and a rich sports environment that is easily accessible.
