Our research internships
We offer two to three months research internships for our ongoing transnational project. It contributes to the diverse career development of young researchers, both broadening and deepening their skills. The internship is open for students and young researchers in universities in Norway as well as for students of our international partners: UTokyo and NII (Japan), HKPU (Hong Kong), IIT (Indore, India), SUSTech (China), GMU and SDSU (USA). Selected intern will collaborate with researchers at Big Data Research Group, Vestlandsforsking on various topics. There is a possibility to participate in this programme remotely (Virtual Internship).

Fairness, accountability, and transparency in machine learning
Social cybersecurity and community resilience
Computational Social Science: Misinformation detection, online radicalisation and extremism
Intersectional hate on the web: incorporating computational approaches for understanding the problem or mitigating it
Social media data analysis for disaster management
Disruptive technologies for critical infrastructure resilience
Analysing individual energy consumption behaviour using social media data
Big data analytics for sustainable regional development
Investigating common forms of fake news
Human-System Teamwork using knowledge graphs and machine learning
Understanding information propagation on social media
We are looking for students that:
Are currently pursuing a master or doctoral degree in informatics or technology
Have experience in SQL, C++, R or Python
Having courses or experience in machine learning, data mining, regression, and/or generalized linear models
Have a good academic record and interest in research and development
Are curious and enjoy working on challenging problems independently and in teams
Have strong spoken and written English and/or Norwegian skills
